40-Hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training for Professionals

Participants will obtain foundational knowledge of sexual violence and rape culture and its’ impact on those whom experience this type of victimization. Trainees will gain basic crisis intervention skills, explore the neurobiology of trauma and learn how to respond appropriately to disclosures. They will also learn about the legal and medical remedies available to survivors and explore how sexual violence impacts unique groups of survivors. The training will conclude with an emphasis on vicarious trauma and self-care and empower trainees with the resources that they may need to share with survivors in their communities.

Times: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Registration includes: Training course, training materials and certificate of completion.

RVA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention, individual counseling, support groups and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. RVA provides public education and institutional advocacy in order to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault. Since 1974, RVA has also provided professional training to law enforcement, prosecutors, physicians, nurses, educators and other professionals including university faculty and staff across the Chicagoland area as well as four 60-hour trainings for volunteers annually.
